LONGHOUSE INDIVIDUAL LOAN SCHEME (PKPRP)
LONGHOUSE INDIVIDUAL LOAN SCHEME (PKPRP)
The Sarawak Government has introduced the Longhouse Loan Scheme as an initiative to assist the longhouse community in the state. This scheme has been carefully designed to meet their specific needs, ensuring a more comfortable and improved quality of life.
The Longhouse Loan Scheme was first introduced in 1978, with loan funding provided by both the State and Federal Governments from 1978 to 2006. From 2007 to 2024, the scheme has been financed through a Loan Trust Fund established by the Federal and State Governments.
With the introduction of the Longhouse Loan Scheme and the implementation of the Randau Program, the Sarawak Government aims to enhance the quality of life of the longhouse community, preserve their cultural heritage, and ensure that the longhouses built or renovated remain strong, safe, and durable. This initiative also serves as a proactive measure to raise awareness and promote the use of this scheme among the longhouse community in Sarawak.
